Online Safety
At St Stephen's CE Primary School, online safety is an integral part of safeguarding and promoting pupils' wellbeing. We are committed to ensuring that children learn how to use technology safely, responsibly and respectfully, preparing them for life in an increasingly digital world.
Online safety is taught throughout the curriculum, including Computing, Relationships Education and Health Education. Pupils learn to:
- Stay safe while using the internet, apps, games and digital devices.
- Protect personal information and understand the importance of privacy.
- Recognise online risks such as cyberbullying, harmful content, scams and inappropriate contact. [learning.n...pcc.org.uk]
- Develop positive and respectful online relationships.
- Understand the impact of their online behaviour and digital footprint.
- Know how and where to report concerns and seek support.
As part of our whole-school safeguarding approach, we use appropriate filtering and monitoring systems, provide regular staff training and work closely with parents and carers to help keep children safe online. Online safety is a shared responsibility between school, home and the wider community.
We encourage parents and carers to take an active interest in their child's online activities and to maintain open conversations about internet use, gaming, social media and digital communication.
