This first week back after the half term has seen a real mix of fast paced learning and calmer moments of reflection. Tuesday’s Spirituality assembly with Mrs Suddes was centred around Bonfire night and the way fireworks can light up a cold, dark sky. In a similar vein, our class spent time considering what acts of kindness they could perform to light up the lives of those around them. The class discussion and the work they produced demonstrated just how kind and considerate your little ones can be.
This consideration continued during the first RE lesson of a new module on Christmas and Advent. The class thought about what Christmas meant to them, what symbols they could use to represent this and how they tell a story of their own Christmas experiences in pictures. Once again, the open, honest discussion they had and the pride they showed in their work really stands out.
In Science we built on their previous knowledge of habitats and began looking at how and why certain animals are perfectly adapted to their surroundings. It was great to see how knowledgeable the class were and how they could use reasoned logic to sort a wide variety of animals into their respective habitats.
Finally, this blog is being written fresh off the back of an exciting sporting experience with Education Enterprise. The class were lucky enough to attend a Nerf Team Challenge at Bishop Auckland college where the whole class engaged in a wide variety of Nerf gun games. It was fantastic to see everyone trying something new, embracing challenges and working together. And, in spite of being shot in the face at least 20 times, I can personally attest that it was great fun!
